
Seven Prisoners Allegedly Liberated by Ipob
The Imo state Police Command has claimed that on Monday, members of the suspected Eastern Security Network (ESN), a security group affiliated with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), attacked Okigwe Correctional Service in Imo state, killing a police inspector, kidnapping another officer, and freeing seven prisoners.

Henry Okoye, the Public Relations Officer for the State Police, revealed this to reporters in Owerri.
According to him, the event took place in the Correctional Service agricultural community in Umualomoke, in the state’s Okigwe region.
Nonetheless, after visiting the scene of the incident, Imo State Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma “deployed the Command’s Special Tactical Squad and equipped them with the available resources to go all out in synergy with the Military other sister security agencies and hunt down suspected IPOB/ESN disgruntled elements.”

Senator Patrick Ndubeze, both in Okigwe, in the early hours of December 2, 2024. “As a result, seven (7) inmates have been released, the farm settlement officer has been abducted, and a police inspector has died,” the police said.
“The CP made this known during his visit to Okigwe for an on-the-spot assessment of the ugly incidents. He gave the special tactical squad operators orders to step up efforts to guarantee that the fleeing inmates are apprehended and subjected to the full force of the law, and that the officer in charge of the farm settlement is rescued unharmed.”
“While urging the public to report at the closest Police Station or by calling 08034773600 if they have any helpful information that will aid the operatives in apprehending the thugs behind the attacks, CP Danjuma encourages the good people of Imo State to go about their lawful business without fear, as the Command is keeping an eye on the situation and has put in place sufficient security measures to prevent future occurrences.
